Ø Jobs to Pursue Following Diesel Mechanic Training

Now that you have a better idea of some of the jobs that may be available following diesel mechanic training, let’s go in-depth to explore exactly what you will be doing in the day to day if you graduate from ATC.

As a diesel engine technician, you’ll work on vehicles that run on diesel. You’ll to be prepared to work on the diesel engine itself, of course, but also with other sub systems components, like electrical. You’ll qualify for job opportunities with automotive repair shops, large transit organizations, and even military organizations.

Fleet mechanics work with organizations and manufacturers to maintain fleets of diesel vehicles. There are many companies and organizations out there that have numerous vehicles to maintain, so a career as a fleet mechanic can be a great choice. You may work on police and fire vehicles, refuse trucks, and construction equipment to ensure they’re up to the task.

Many diesel mechanics graduate from ATC and go on to work on farm equipment. Farmers are reliant on their vehicles to harvest crops and take care of business each and every day. You’ll see tractors, harvesters, and other heavy-duty equipment and may work with farmers or government agencies to maintain these diesel vehicles.
